The Silent Killer

Are you living with the silent killer?

STRESS

Does the idea of taking time out for yourself make you feel uncomfortable?

Do you have moments of quietness in your mind,

or is it racing with things you haven’t done yet?

As a hypnotherapist, I’ve had my fair share of clients who are stressed out, overwhelmed and ready to just walk away.

Their nervous system has hit total overwhelm.

Stress is one of the leading causes of both mental and physical health problems.

They call it "the silent killer" as it seems to be a precursor to so many issues.

We can experience external stresses.

We refer here to current situations that’s making you feel overwhelmed, anxious or tense.

It could be work related, relationships, health or just life in general.

It can feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulder, and no matter how much you try to relax, you just can’t seem to shake it off.

Or we can experience internal stress.

Stress that comes from a buildup of negative past experiences causing the mind and body to become overstimulated, triggered and sensitive to the environment.

While a certain amount of stress is normal and even necessary for survival, prolonged or chronic stress can lead to serious health problems.

It can have a significant impact on our mental health, leading to a range of problems including anxiety, depression, mood disorders and burn outs.

Stress can also have a profound impact on our physical health.

Chronic stress can lead to increased blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, digestive problems and a weakened immune system.

It can also lead to muscle tension, headaches and sleep problems.

(How many people have sleep issues at the moment!! I hear it daily)

Stress can cause the body to release cortisol, a hormone that can cause changes in the brain’s chemistry and structure, leading to mood disorders.

Believe or not, but we can even become addicted to cortisol, making it uncomfortable to relax or have nothing to do, feeling empty!

Over time we can create negative coping behaviours such as substance abuse (alcohol, weed, eating disorders) or social isolation which can create further mental health problems.

By making a choice to work on your mental and physical well-being, you take back control of how you are feeling which creates the perfect space for change.

Please reach out if you are feeling overwhelmed.

Hypnotherapy is very effective in helping reduce stress and improve your overall well-being.

Hypnotherapy can help you address the underlying causes of stress, develop coping strategies and learn how to relax and manage stress in a healthy way.

Remember, managing your stress is crucial for your overall health and well-being.
